The intention behind this EP was to create an object that would differ from the live experience while remaining true to the sound of the band. Through this approach, the music on the EP was nourished both by the spontaneity of live recordings, intentionally minimally reworked or edited, as well as the freedom to create exclusive arrangements through overdubbing. To achieve this, they enlisted the producer Willem Malfliet, whose experience with the Come Hang project had piqued their interest. The result was a five-day recording and idea exchange residency at VOLTA. In French, "milieu" refers to the center of something, the habitat or environment of a living organism or a community of species.
